Description
You are in possession of a disk image containing a secret message. This image uses an unknown file system containing files in an unknown format.
Thanks to your connections, you have managed to get your hands on an archive containing similar files but for a different message. You also know that each file encodes a character and the location of that character in a message. Can you reconstruct the messages in this archive, and then the secret contained in the disk image?
There are seven different file formats. A sample signature is provided
for the first format. It is compatible with file' and
binwalk’ tools.
A partial example is provided for the second format.
The archive contains:
- Sample files for each type (
datasets/
) - Sample signatures (
signatures.magic
) - The disk image (
challenge.bin
)
